Carrier Code Applications

Every for-hire commercial carrier must have a four-digit Customs-assigned carrier code in Canada and/or Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) in the US to operate. Getting this code can be a bit of a challenge and requires no small amount of patience and know-how. If you are looking for a resource that can help you through the process of applying for your code, you owe it to yourself to get in touch with the team at PCB. We can help you get your code and get back on the road again before you know it.

What You Need to Know:

  • The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) issues US SCAC codes through its online portal.
  • Canada Border Services Agency issues Canadian carrier codes through the CARM Client Portal, and we can help with your registration in and navigation of that portal.
  • The application process for both code types can be time-consuming and complicated, but you don’t have to go through it alone.
